Independence Ray was first identified at Manta Village (Keauhou) on June 28, 2011 by James Wing. He was approximately 4 feet across. | ||
| Independence Ray has only been seen at Manta Village a few times, and north of Manta Heaven during the day. He is VERY shy on the night dive and does not come close to the divers or snorkelers. | |||
| His name came from Mike Mayne, a Captain/Dive Master, who suggested that we name him Independence because he was identified around the Fourth of July. | |||
| Description of Markings: His spot pattern has a W shape to it with the right side being a large chuck that is separated from the rest of the pattern. |
